Title: Post your screenshot (again)
Post by: freshwire on January 20, 2008, 09:50:12 PM
Its been a long time since we created the post your desktop thread before so I thought I would create a new one to see how peoples desktops have changed. I got some from my laptop and ill post main PC tomorrow.

Lets see if we can get some from Xylem and some of the new members who didnt post in the last one we had. If anyone has pics of their real desk also post.

Here we go starting with mine:

Nothing really changed for my workstation desktop, exception is the background image loaded randomly. The screen shots are from first 3 of 8 virtual screens, the window control is via fluxbox manager without icons.

They can but if you set the refresh rate to more like 75 Hz, then it would help.... if you have it stuck on 60 or less, then it can be bad for you..

I can see all the stolen stuff you got on your PC lol.. all those movies and Adobe software lol... :lol:

Oh and why did you have to steal all those signs lol.. No smoking, We would request passengers not to play loud music enough for others to hear, Caution these seats fold up automatically when vacated, it is a legal requirment that you retain your ticket for inspection - passengers unable to produce their tickets may be required to pay again.... lol..

Oh and nice tower (I like how it glows in the dark, I have seen those before).. One thing I don't like is splitting view on 2 monitors... we have them in our Media Suit in our School and it is a pain to use... I get all confused.... I prefer all on one screen lol...

Oh my! comparing Jon's to Wide_Load's tidyness, well we all know which one looks better - Jon's! lol..

and... Jon, why you so bothered about one wire going across, its not making it run any worse lol.. but a new heat sink and fan probable good as you keep reporting the unstableness... probably due to the excessive over clocking of the CPU you report to me lol.... need like 100 fans to keep it cool...

I always said.. if your central heating don't work, over clock your PC's CPU and you have your heating hehe.. :lol:

my HSF was designed for servers...  its a bit FAST! jon get a good one :)

and i never have radiator on in my room ...  air comming from back of pc is prety warm...  teps inside it never get excessivly hot :)

and that one wire wont make a temp difference, and your case hasnt got clear side so dont bother :)...   dont think my cableing makes a big difference to temps. probably wudnt change if i moved em :)

All vista? :o
I overheard a few people at Best Buy today bitching about Windoze Vista... they were saying how much they h8 it and the fact that you can't buy a PC with XP there anymore pissed them off even more.

Hey! Peta2 is cool!

And yeah I think it is kinda bad that you can only buy laptops with Vista on now... Although can't you get a down grade disk to put you back onto XP?

Title: Post your screenshot (again)

I wouldn't use XP unless the machine is low spec.

vista is the future...

and to downgrade to XP takes max of 30 mins..

XP sucks anyway :)

all you anti-vista people should go away :)

I have Ubuntu 7.10, Vista, XP

I rank in this order (best first): Vista, Ubuntu, XP

@Mike...You are sayinbg things about vista before actually giving it a PROPER try for yourself. You read some bad reviews and then assume that its the case. People always thinking the worst when really a good number of user much prefer Vista over XP (those who arent against change!)

I never said I agreed with them about Vista sucking... And the only reason I haven't tried it yet is because I don't have the money to spend on a new OS every time one is released like some people!

@sawanbanna: Is that VTP8 that you use on your laptop? :?

I know with the program "Tweak XP" you can change the details in system properties.

There is "Tweak VI" for vista as well.

Im sure there are many other programs to help you as well. Otherwise you could go investigating with regedit.exe.

@ monkey56657 : IDM is the best download manager I ever used so far, I used to use DAP it was suck at that time but haven't check the newer version yet..

@ Mike : I am still using VTP6

@ GBHall : to put your own logo and info on that manufacturer section is very simple and you need no software...
here is the secret (don't tell anyone :lol:)

1) Create the image size between 150-200 x 100 - 150 (I use 180 x 114) and save the image as Windows Bitmap (.bmp) either 24bit or 32bit (recommend for better contrast) and name it as "oemlogo.bmp"

2) create the small ini file to put on some freak info we want :lol:
the file will contain some of this info

Quote

General information about your computer
[general]
Manufacturer=Toshiba  ---> Manufacturer like Dell, Toshiba, Sony etc...
Model=A105-447 ---> whatever the freak you want to put in like A105-447 or the correct manufacturer model

This info will show in popup window when you click on "Supports Information" button beginning with Line# is required....
[Support Information]
Line1=http://www.sawanbanna.com/    For my main website
Line2=http://extreme.50webs.net/    Free Web Templates
Line3=http://howto.50webs.net/      Free Online Tutorials
Line4=http://directory.50webs.net/  Free Web Directory

and save this file as oeminfo.ini

here is the example of the file I made as freak...lol..
Quote

[general]
Manufacturer=Toshiba
Model=Sawanbanna Xtreme Edition

[Support Information]
Line1=http://www.sawanbanna.com/    For my main website
Line2=http://extreme.50webs.net/    Free Web Templates
Line3=http://howto.50webs.net/      Free Online Tutorials
Line4=http://directory.50webs.net/  Free Web Directory

3) Go to your harddrive that your OS installed to and browse to DRIVE:\WINDOWS\system32 (ex. C:\WINDOWS\system32) then backup the file "oemlogo.bmp" (if exist) and "oeminfo.ini".

4) replace both files with the new oemlogo.bmp and oeminfo.ini you just created...

DON"T touch the files: oembios.bin, oembios.dat and oembios.sig unless you know what to deal with them...

That's all...remember it's freak and not real and it's the way that manufacturer like Dell, Sony, Toshiba etc make their own OEM logo in info into the unattended recovery and original OS that come with the computers to customers...

@ jam: thanks, noobos stole my wallpapers and post here before tho...

@ Monkey...
Youmight wanna have a look into a program called DevilsPie.
Using DevilsPie, you could embed that program Top into your desktop.. so then you wouldn't have a separate window...
